How will the conference be run?
Junior ReiMUN 5 will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. We will allocate your students (using their email address) to two channels:
The Junior ReiMUN 5 General channel
Their designated committee channel (e.g. GA2, GA3, Security Council etc.)
This is why we need email addresses for each of your students to properly allocate them their committees.
How will committees run?
Committees will take place in separate channels, which are named. Your students’ email addresses will be uploaded ahead of time, so that they can be sent a link. They will receive links only to the General and their specified committee channels.
Committee channels will be chaired by RGS students. Only they will have the right to present but your delegates will be able to switch on microphones and cameras when they are speaking. The chairs will have the right to mute any inappropriate content (though we believe this is very unlikely to happen.)
Approved resolutions will be screen-shared in committees by the chairs. They will also be available in the files section of the channel for delegates to read at their own pace.
What’s happening in the general channel?
We will host the Opening Ceremony via the General channel at 9:00am. Later throughout the day our MUN team will be in RGS on live camera feed on Teams. Some content will be recorded ahead of time but there will be short speeches from our Secretary General and MUN Advisor.
Will there be breaks?
Yes. There will be short breaks and can be viewed in the programme. Students should easily be able to re-join the channel. We also hope to encourage informal chat during these breaks. The channel meetings will remain live throughout lunch so delegates should not need to log off and back on again.
Will there be prize-giving?
Unfortunately, there will be no prize-giving at Junior ReiMUN 5. ReiMUN believes that now more than ever, the spirit of co-operation, not competition, is foremost. We do understand this may disappoint some of our younger debaters but feel this message is important under present circumstances. We will aim to give feedback where possible and hopefully still have some joke awards and the ever-popular “confessions box.”
Will the conference be recorded?
No. Recording of the conference is not permitted from either Reigate Grammar staff or delegates attending the conference. However, we will have a photographer going round the conference in person as usual.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. We expect all delegates who share video to do so in formal attire.
